Heimdal Glacier, viewed from 1500' above its catchment area within the ice sheet. OIB encountered the most violent turbulence most of us have ever experienced very near the spot where this photo was taken, several years ago, in the NASA P-3. We all emerged from that experience uninjured, but the same cannot be said for at least one laptop, a coffeepot, and several other items which were insufficiently secured in the cabin that day. In contrast, we enjoyed a nice smooth ride today.
