Due to forecast crosswinds and low ceilings at AAFB tomorrow there will not be a flight attempt tomorrow morning.

The next Science Flight is currently scheduled for Wednesday - Takeoff ~0320 ChST (weather permitting)

Aircraft and Science Preflight activity are scheduled for tomorrow.

Activities Today:

- No Vehicle Access – aircraft moved to USAF GH Hangar

-AAFB’s Cope North Exercise has ended…

 o   The Japanese (JASDF) Maintainers will be packing their equipment in our hangar today.

Current Plan for tomorrow, Tuesday, is Preflight:

 - 0600: Aircraft retrieved from the USAF GH Hangar

 - 0730: Daily GH/ATTREX Leads Tag-up and Weather Briefing in the Hangar

 -Currently the Day-time Preflight schedule is:

 o1000 – 1300: Science Preflight with Aircraft VTC and Data-IT support

 - Currently the Evening Pre-flight schedule for DOAS, DLH, PCRS, NOAA H2O is:

 o1800 – 2100: Science Pre-launch Preflight (no VTC Power or IT support)

 Current Plan for Wednesday (weather permitting) is Science Flt #3:

-T-0 Briefing at ~0130 (TBA)

 o   PMOF Staffing @ 0230

-  Engine Start @ 0240

- Takeoff @ 0320

- Landing @ 1620 (13-hr flight)

Outlook:

Flight Planning for the next 2-3 days is being significantly affected by Tropical Storm Faxai.

Based on a 2215 Weather review by the Pilots - the flight tomorrow morning is a NO-GO due to out of limit wind conditions at AAFB.

 

We will reset 1-day and review the Weather Forecast in the morning for a possible Tuesday flight.

 -Down Day for the ATTREX/ GH Team

Current Plan for tomorrow Sunday is Preflight:

 - 0600: Aircraft retrieved from the USAF GH Hangar

 o   Crew scheduled to perform an engine wash

 - 0730: Daily GH/ATTREX Leads Tag-up and Weather Briefing in the Hangar

Update:

Based on the continuing forecast of high-winds and low ceilings here in Guam – ATTREX Science Flt. #3 has been cancelled for tomorrow.

In addition, tomorrow, Saturday, is a ATTRX/GH Hard Down Day…

Next possible Flight day is Monday 0200 Takeoff, Sunday is Preflight.

Today’s flight has been cancelled due to the current wind intensity being significantly out of limits, as well as a low cloud ceiling.

The current schedule is:

-Instruments remain in a pre-flight condition.

-Evening Pre-flight by DOAS, DLH, PCRS:

 o   1800 – 2100: Instrument “Day-of-Flt” Preflight

-Evening Pre-flight for instruments requiring Aircraft VTC Power and Data-IT support:

 o   2000 – 2100

Schedule for Science Flt #3:

-          Go/NoGo Announcement at 2300 – monitor e-mails

-          T-0 Briefing @ 0015 (Hangar)

 o   PMOF Staffing @ 0110

-          Engine Start @ 0120

 o   Pin Pull @ 0145

-Takeoff @ 0200

 o   Landing @ 1900 (17-hr flight)

 -The Fuel Valve was replaced this morning in Hangar 6

 -The local winds are currently above the tow-limit for the aircraft - so fueling is delayed

 - The delay in fueling will cause an hour-by-hour delay in the start of Preflight activity, which is at present:             

 o   ~1230 – 1500: Instrument Preflight with VTC Power and Data-IT

 -Evening Pre-flight by DOAS, DLH, PCRS – Estimated Schedule is:

 o   ~1800 – 2100: Instrument “Day-of-Flt” Preflight (no VTC Power or IT support)

- UCATS, SSFR, and Mini-DOAS performed Instrument Tests on the aircraft.

- Aircraft defueled (prep. for fuel valve replacement).

-Aircraft moved to USAF GH Hangar.

Plan for tomorrow, Wednesday

-GH Crew Down Day (with exception of 2 OA Tech’s to work req’d Task).

-No aircraft access by Instrument Teams.

-Replacement Quick Disconnect Fuel Valve arriving early evening. 

Current Plan for Thursday is Preflight:

-Retrieve aircraft and perform Fuel Valve replacement.

-Fuel aircraft.

- Instrument Preflight activity – Estimated Schedule is:

 o   ~1100 – 1400: Instrument Preflight with VTC Power and Data-IT

 o   Other instruments are welcome to use this opportunity.

-Aircraft will be towed to USAF GH Hangar tonight 

Outlook:

-The leaking fuel quick disconnect was not able to be rectified today.  The replacement part is en route and will arrive on Thursday and is expected to be replaced the same day.  The current best estimate for the next Science Flight is Friday.

2014-02-24

Today’s Activities:

-Inmarsat Antenna has been replaced and tested in the Hangar

-Outdoor Inmarsat and Ku Testing being conducted this afternoon.

-NOAA H2O and UCATS will come off the aircraft at 4:00 PM (or later) today.

- The aircraft will remain in the Hangar this evening – with standard FireWatch

 

Plan for tomorrow, Tuesday

- Morning: Aircraft may be defueling (if deemed necessary) for valve replacement

- 1200 – 1600: Aircraft Power and Data-IT for instrument activity

 o   DOAS to use 3-hrs for Instrument Checkout and P.I. Training

 o   SSFR may perform tests (TBD)

 o   Other instruments are welcome to use this opportunity.

 

Outlook:

-Current best estimate for the next Science Flight is Thursday or Friday. We will keep you posted.
