Accomplishments:
  • AFRC “Tech Brief” held – CAST/ATTREX Science Flight Request approved and signed
  • MMS Nav-data cable repaired – tests confirm good data
  • GHOST and AIITS testing
  • Maintenance and avionics pre-flight activity
  • HDVis camera upgraded with new heater film – installed on aircraft
  • AFRC Ku Ground Station reinstalled and will be used during Range Flt.

  • No known activity planned in Payload Cage – no aircraft access
Monday: CST Schedule
  • 0615: GHOST LN2 Fill in the Hangar
  • 0730: T-0 Briefing in Payload Cage
  • 0800: All Instr. P.I.’s required in GHOC
  • CST: ~0815 to ~1100
  • 1300: T-1 Briefing for Range Flt (B4840, Rm 113B)
Tuesday: Range Flight
  • 0400: GHOST LN2 Fill in the Hangar
  • 0500: T-0 Briefing (B4840, Rm 113B)
  • 0550: All Instr. P.I.’s required in GHOC
  • 0600: Engine Start
  • 0700: Take-off

Overview:
  • Maintenance and Avionics aircraft work continues in preparation for CST
  • CST scheduled – however, all PI’s should look for e-mail at 0800 confirming details
Accomplishments:
  • Maintenance and avionics flight readiness activity continues on aircraft
  • AIITS removed for upload and checkout of new software
  • MMS Nav-data cable modified to reduce noise
Issues/Watch items:
  • Wallops Ku Ground Station pointing issue unresolved
  • Tight schedule Friday regarding final detailed prep
Upcoming Schedule:
Friday
  • Decision on final CST Schedule – PI’s look for Email announcement before coming in
  • 0800 – GHOST and AIITS power-on aircraft testing
  • Data-IT has requested time for outdoor testing in the morning
Saturday
  • Support in Payload Cage for P.I.’s as needed, no aircraft access

Overview:
  • Pre-CST related activity performed – ready for CST Friday.
  • Air vehicle readiness and instrument integration/testing is on schedule.
Accomplishments:
  • Outdoor Satcom testing, including Pre-CST related testing
  • GHOST Cryostat LN2 fill performed on aircraft outdoors
  • Rehearsal for pre-Engine Start LN2 fill on flight days
  • GHOST TAM alignment measurements performed
  • AIITS troubleshooting software updates
Issues/Watch items:
  • MMS reports some noise on LN-100 nav data line; troubleshoot tomorrow
  • Wallops Ku Ground Station pointing issue unresolved; support from WFF requested

Upcoming Schedule:

Wednesday:
  • Crew to stage aircraft at normal Ku-testing location, ready for power at 0730
  • MMS, GHOST, AIITS & Hawkeye: please report to GHOC at 0730
  • O3, NWV, MTP & GWAS: please report to Payload Cage at 0900 (You’ll be called to GHOC as needed by Caitlin)
  • Aircraft outdoor testing all day hopefully concluded with Pre-CST.
Thursday:
  • Maint and Avionics aircraft final prep for CST
Friday:
  • All personnel participate in CST: Schedule TBA

Overview:
  • All instruments are now integrated on the aircraft
  • Outdoor Satcom Testing has begun
Accomplishments:
  • Outdoor Satcom testing, with Instrument teams in the GHOC has begun
  • NOAA O3 and NWV, MTP, and GWAS complete Iridium testing
  • All four instruments are complete with no testing planned on Tuesday
  • MMS, Hawkeye, AIITS testing has begun
Issues/Watch items:
  • No Ku Satcom Testing accomplished - the GH Ku Ground Terminal at Wallops was offline (a weather, alignment issue)
  • System needs to be online next Tuesday & Wednesday to stay on schedule
  • Discovered a Data-Ethernet connectivity issue to GHOST, suspected to Payload System based
  • Therefore, Tuesday will begin with additional Hangar IT Testing to troubleshoot
  • Most of Tuesday and all of Wednesday will be used for additional outdoor Satcom testing - to be concluded with the Pre-CST.

Upcoming Schedule:

No P.I. activity in the GH Hangar Sat or Sun or Monday (Holiday). GHOST LN2 Cryo servicing to be performed as scheduled.

Tuesday
  • Begin the morning in the Hangar – troubleshoot GHOST Data-ethernet connectivity issue
  • Aircraft outdoors for Satcom testing when GHOST IT issue resolved
  • Wallops Ku Ground Terminal needed for testing
  • MMS, Hawkeye, AIITS, MTP, GHOST Inst. Teams needed at 0900 (report to Hangar first)
  • NOAA O3, NWV, GWAS, and MTP Team are not needed Tuesday
Wednesday
  • Aircraft outdoors for Satcom Testing, all Inst. Teams needed in GHOC
  • Pre-CST Test, as scheduled.

Overview:

  • Tomorrow, Friday (OA and OM Crew support approved for 8 hours)
    • Begin the morning in the Hangar – finish Data IT Testing
    • Prepare for outdoor Satcom Testing at ~0900.
    • 0730 Show-time for: MMS, GHOST, AIITS
    • 0800 Show-time for: Hawkeye
    • 0900 Show-time for all remaining instruments

Overview:

CAST/ATTREX Instrument integration/testing on schedule. Aircraft will be ready for Wt/Bal in the morning.

Accomplishments:
  • GHOST electrical harnesses installed.
  • Hawkeye harness/fibre end-end test completed
  • Worked MMS Heater EIP Cable
  • AIITS replacement Laser arrived – being installed (non-interference with Wt/Bal)
Concerns / Watch List:
  • Need 2-3 hr of Hangar Data-IT – currently proposed after Wt/Bal tomorrow.
  • NGC Shear/Bending analysis – holding for new NGC analysis using updated model.
Upcoming Schedule:
  • Tomorrow, Thursday:
    • Weight & Balance by NGC Engr. starting at 0800
    • Data-IT Testing in Hangar (GWAS, MMS, Hawkeye, GHOST, AIITS PI’s requested at 1PM to support)
  • Friday
    • All-day Outdoor Satcom/GHOC Testing of Payloads
    • All PI’s requested to support

Overview:

CAST/ATTREX Instrument integration proceeding as scheduled. GHOST mechanical Installation and AIITS Ping Test completed.

Accomplishments:
  • GHOST mechanical installation completed (see pic)
  • AIITS Pod structural dynamics (“Ping”) test completed (see pic)
Concerns / Watch List:
  • AIITS replacement Diode Laser - delivery expected tomorrow.
  • Cannot locate 2nd MMS EIP Harness. OA may need to fabricate a replacement.
  • NGC Shear/Bending analysis – holding for new NGC analysis using updated model.
Upcoming Schedule:
  • Tomorrow, Wednesday:
    • CAST/ATTREX Leads Telecom at 0800 PST
    • Hawkeye Harness end-to-end checks (Zone-3 and Pod)
    • MMS EIP Harness review (Zone-7)
    • GHOST ATR Ping Setup and Test
    • GHOST Harness installation (after Ping Test, time permitting)

Overview:

  • CAST/ATTREX Instrument integration/test proceeding as scheduled. GHOST Installation has begun in Zone-25
  • GHOST installation continues Saturday
Accomplishments:
  • AIITS Pod mounting on the wing completed
  • Structural Shear/Bending Analysis review meeting held at NGC
  • Installation of the GHOST Pallet commenced, TAM Mounted and Fairing Cut.
Concerns / Watch List:
  • AIITS Diode Laser replacement has been shipped – expected at AFRC on Monday
  • Reviewing need for laser-replacement waiver
  • NGC Shear/Bending analysis by NGC now suspected to be in error, analysis to be corrected
  • GHOST integration continues Saturday to get on schedule
Upcoming Schedule:
  • Tomorrow, Saturday: GHOST Pallet installation continues
  • Monday:
    • GHOST avionics harness installation
    • Begin Data-IT Hangar Testing of all instruments on aircraft power

Overview:

CAST/ATTREX Instrument integration proceeding as scheduled. GHOST Installation is 2 days behind schedule… currently the only instrument not mounted.

Accomplishments:
  • Cabin Pressurization test completed
  • Avionics tie-up of harnesses ongoing
  • AIITS Pod mounted on the wing, preloads almost completed
  • CAST/ATTREX Leads Status/Flight Planning telecom held
  • Final pre-installation work on the GHOST Pallet continuing
Concerns / Watch List:
  • AIITS Diode Laser replacement arrival by early next week.
  • Need for waiver for replacement of AIITS Laser Module without repeat of Enviro. Testing
  • GHOST Pallet installation is behind schedule – mounting on aircraft to begin tomorrow
  • NGC Shear/Bending analysis - Meeting at NGC tomorrow to discuss status
