HS3 09/13/14 Mission Daily Schedule

Overview:  AV-6 Science Flight #6 is scheduled to takeoff at 0700 tomorrow for a planned 24-hr flight to TS Edouard. TS Edouard is expected to gradually intensify to a Cat 1-2 hurricane in the next 72 hours. 80 sondes will be loaded for the flight.

HS3 09/12/14 Mission Daily Schedule

Overview:  AV-6 Science Flight #5 landed this evening at 1749 EDT. During the flight, TD06 was upgraded to TS Edouard by the NHC. 64 sondes were deployed over the course of the 25-hr flight.
 
Mission Science is currently looking at both Sat evening and Sun morning takeoff options depending on local weather. Update at 0800 Saturday.

HS3 09/11/14 Mission Daily Schedule

Overview:  AV-6 Science Flight #5 is scheduled to takeoff this evening at 1800 EDT for a 25-hr flight into TD06 (formerly P29/I91L). This system was upgraded to a tropical depression around 1130 EDT. The issue with the Iridium links that postponed yesterday’s takeoff was the fault of the service provider and has been resolved. 65 sondes are loaded for this flight.

HS3 09/10/14 Mission Daily Schedule

Overview:  AV-6 Science Flight #5 is scheduled to takeoff today at 1800 EDT for a 25-hr flight into P29/91L. The disturbance is still unorganized, but it is expected by most models to consolidate and slowly intensify. The NHC gives a 20-70% chance of development into a TC in 2-5 days. 65 sondes are loaded for this flight.

Overview:  AV-6 Science Flight #5 is scheduled to fly tomorrow at 1800 EDT (target P29/I91L; 65 sondes are being loaded). Media Day is scheduled for Thursday.

HS3 09/08/14 Mission Daily Schedule

Overview:  AV-6 engine nozzle change is complete and engine run was successful. Next potential flight Wed Sep 10 (target P29L).
 
The decision was made at this morning's weather brief to cancel Tuesday's flight due to inclement local weather. The next potential AV-6 flight will be Wednesday. The takeoff time for a potential Wednesday flight is TBD and will be determined NLT 1400 Tuesday afternoon.
