Daily Star Lebanon - NASA has embarked on an ambitious journey with its massive airborne laboratory, the DC-8, conducting extensive flights across Asia to improve air pollution forecasting and management models. This endeavor aims to pinpoint the sources and patterns of air pollution, a critical step towards developing more accurate systems for public alerts. Given that air pollution contributes to millions of fatalities each year, the significance of this mission is profound.

Journal Online - NASA817—more specifically the NASA DC-8 plane—is an airborne science laboratory based in NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Palmdale, California. It is flown to other parts of the world to gather data to support the research and experiments undertaken by the global scientific community.

Punto - CLARK, Pampanga (PIA) — Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) jointly launched scientific research flights to address air quality issues in the country.

Airborne and Satellite Investigation of Asian Air Quality (ASIA-AQ) aims to help the national government improve air quality models, provide accurate forecasts, and develop effective policies for better air quality.

Philippine Information Agency - DENR -The ASIA-AQ project, led by the United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is an international collaborative research initiative with South Korea’s National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER), University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Thailand’s Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), and the Philippines’ DENR, Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), Manila Observatory and the University of the Philippines.

GK Today - NASA has begun conducting marathon research flights across Asia in order to improve air pollution forecasting models. The flights aim to collect detailed data on air pollution sources and behavior to enhance warning systems for the public. Millions of deaths each year are linked to air pollution.

Manila Bulletin - Metro Manila residents can expect to see a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) aircraft flying at low altitude from Feb. 5 to 14 for air quality research in the metropolis and its surrounding regions.

Earlier, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Maria Antonia “Toni” Yulo-Loyzaga announced that the Philippines will be part of an international collaboration with NASA to study and address air quality issues in the Asian region.

Aviation Week Network - Nearly 55 years since its first flight, NASA’s McDonnell Douglas DC-8-72 is on the last legs of its flying service in a two-month tour to Asia to measure air quality in four key countries and territories. Under the banner of the Airborne and Satellite Investigation of Asian Air Quality (ASIA-AQ).

AZO Materials - IONICON Analytik - The world's biggest airborne laboratory, a NASA DC-8 aircraft, has arrived in the Philippines for the first leg of its multiple country mission around Asia. Aboard the DC8 are two IONICON FUSION PTR instruments, one to monitor the gas phase and one IONICON FUSION PTR-TOF 10k equipped with a CHARON inlet system to monitor particles. We are very excited to be part of the NASA mission ASIA-AQ.
