S-MODE 04/13/23 Mission Daily Schedule

Here is the S-MODE Plan of the Day for Thursday, April 13:

Updates:

  • The intrepid Sally Ride science party has nearly completed the APEX float deployments, in addition to deploying surface drifters and performing CTD casts. Deck operations will cease for ~24 hours as sea state conditions deteriorate.
  • The B200 completed its sixth flight of IOP-2, while the MASS TO completed its second. The G-III was a no-go today due to clouds.

 Aircraft schedule:

  • 0700: G-III PRISM preflight begins
  • NET 0900: G-III SF#2 takeoff (weather dependent)
  • 0900: Preflight meeting for B200 SF#7
  • NET 1030: B200 SF#7 takeoff
  • TBD morning: MASS TO SF#3 takeoff

Ship and in situ plan:

  • After sea state conditions improve, Sally Ride will steam eastward and uCTD/EcoCTD operations will begin.
  • Wave gliders are surveying in the northern part of the ops area. An eighth wave glider is scheduled to be deployed Thursday from Santa Cruz.
  • Two Seagliders to continue operating lines in the southern portion of the ops area. Two Seagliders are moving to the strong SSH gradient region west of the plume region.
