S-MODE 04/18/23 Mission Daily Schedule

Here is the S-MODE Plan of the Day for Tuesday, April 18:

Updates:

  • The science team has turned their focus to an area on the eastern side of the S-MODE domain, where small-scale eddies and instabilities appear to be peeling off of an inflow front.
  • The Sally Ride science party are finishing additional Seaglider and Wave Glider deployments today, and will then deploy Lagrangian floats. The ship is making survey passes across the current target front.
  • The B200 and MASS TO are also surveying the same target front today.
  • The G-III maintenance is complete and the aircraft is ready to go.

 Aircraft plan and schedule:

  • All aircraft will collect data over the target front to track its evolution.
  • NET 1030: G-III SF#3 takeoff
  • 1130: Preflight meeting for B200 SF#11
  • NET 1200: MASS TO SF#6 takeoff
  • NET 1300: B200 SF#11 takeoff

 Ship and in situ plan:

  • The Sally Ride will continue surveying the front. Wave gliders are moving east to converge on the area of interest.
