Dear Sir/Madam,
*I hereby do confirm my presence for an EPIC workshop meeting on 4-6
December, 2019.*
*The EPIC To-do List*
*1. My Picture is attached with this email for an EPIC photo album. Please
find the attachment.*
*2. Short Biography: Ajit Singh Ahlawat (Research Scientist, TROPOS,
Germany)*
I currently works as a Research Scientist at the Experimental Aerosol and
Cloud Microphysics Department, Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research,
Leipzig, Germany. I perform my research in Aerosol Instrumentation and
Electronic Engineering. Our current project is 'VHTDMA' with IIT Delhi and
Traceability for Aerosol Electrometer in sub-30 nm range with BAM, Germany.
I have completed my doctoral research in Environmental Sciences and
Biomedical Metrology Division, CSIR- National Physical Laboratory, New
Delhi in 2019. The main focus of my Ph.D. research was on Design and
development of light weight instruments suitable for airborne observations
for atmospheric monitoring. The implication of this research is to develop
various light weight airborne instruments (Light Weight Gas Sensing System
and Optical Particle Sizer) suitable for vertical measurements for
acquiring knowledge about the properties of atmospheric aerosols and gases
using airborne platform. I have developed both the instruments and
successfully tested these at Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) region. The other
facet of my research is to characterize the samples and then simulate the
properties using various optical and radiative models. I have used many
optical models such as T-matrix, Mie, Core-shell model and SBDART radiative
model for carrying out my research. This makes me suitable for carrying out
both experimental and modelling work as well as my electronics engineering
background makes me suitable for instrumentation design and development
work. I have participated in the tethered Balloon and UAV campaigns in
Delhi and USA respectively during my PhD research. I did my Masters in
Communication systems and Bachelors in Electronics and Communication
Engineering.
3. A list of all of the locations your group has operated from or did site
visits to in the past 10 years.
*Following are the locations where our group has operated in past 10 years:*
*a. A tethered balloon based campaign over New Delhi in February 2014 for
vertical measurement of the aerosol microphysical and optical/radiative
properties over polluted urban environment.*
*b. Measurement of aerosol optical properties over Palampur station,
Himachal Pradesh, India (Continuous observations over High Altitude site
from 2017 onwards).*
*c. Participated in ISARRA LAPSE-RATE Campaign along with many research
organisations and universities for measurement of vertical distribution of
aerosol optical properties at San Luis Valley, Colorado in July 2019.*
4. A list of all of the locations your group plans to operate from in the
next 5 years.
*Following are the locations where our group will be operating in next five
years:*
*a. UAV and tethered balloon based campaign over New Delhi in 2020 is
proposed for vertical measurement of the aerosol microphysical and
optical/radiative properties along with measurement of cloud microphysics.*
*b. Measurement of aerosol optical properties over Shillong, India (UAV
observation at High Altitude site in 2021).*
*c. Our group at TROPOS plans to perform the UAV campaign at Melpitz,
Germany in next coming years (Their fixed background station, Rural).*
*d. Our group at TROPOS participating in MOSAIC Campaign and perform
Tethered Balloon Experiment over Arctic in 2020.*
I have already filled the NASA visitor form and mailed it to Vidal Salazar
few months back.
Please check the filled form if anything is still needed from my side. I
will do it immediately.
Please also check this email and do confirm if all the information
submitted my me are enough for all the formalities required.
Thanks
Regards,
Ajit
