CPEX-CV Shipping Overview

ESPO will be facilitating air and sea shipments from NASA AFRC to Sal, Cape Verde and back. The sea shipment, departing in late May 2022, will be for instrument and lab support equipment not required for integration. The air shipment will be for tools and equipment required for integration. The dates for the air shipment will be around early to mid-August.

Please note, we can ship 5 pallets by sea for the relative cost of shipping 1 pallet by air. Please separate items required for integration from any general lab support equipment as much as possible.

If you plan to ship equipment via air or sea to Sal, Cape Verde, please see the details below.

Sea Shipment

Please fill out the sea manifest for the items you plan to ship in May 2022. The manifest also includes a second tab for hazardous materials to be listed. Both tabs contain example entries listed in red font.

Please provide completed sea shipment manifests to Stevie Phothisane by April 8, 2021.

Please fill out the air manifest for the items you plan to ship. Example entries are listed in red font. The air shipment manifest does not include a hazardous materials tab, as we will not be shipping any via air. Please plan accordingly.

Please provide completed air shipment manifests to Stevie Phothisane by July 8, 2022.

Additional Information

Please fill out the manifests as completely as possible, as including only general descriptions could cause customs delays.  Your NASA center or home institution will be responsible for assigning Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) to each line item.

Instrument Teams are responsible for shipping to/from the integration site. ESPO will ship to/from the deployment site. Please pack any fragile or sensitive equipment in hard shell cases with plenty of cushioning and avoid shipping loose items whenever possible.

Shipping to Sal Airport:

For any last minute shipments, please contact Stevie Phothisane (s.s.phothisane@nasa.gov) 707-772-9683 and notify the ESPO PM. We have an agreement with the US Embassy for import so we must reference the Embassy's address as cosignee when we populate the shipping paperwork for air shipments to Cabo Verde.
