Hi everyone,

Here is the S-MODE Plan of the Day for Thursday, October 21 (all times Pacific):

Announcements:
Three of the four Wave Gliders onboard the R/V Oceanus were damaged overnight by a very large wave while the ship was riding in heavy seas. One WG is undamaged, two are fixable, and one requires repairs on a timeline that will not work for this campaign. The chief scientist and ship’s captain are assessing options to divert from the current ship’s track to find calmer waters, so that repairs can begin.

Thursday, October 21

  *   1400: Daily Control Center meeting
  *   No flights for B200 or Twin Otter (weather)
  *   Saildrone survey continues near cold filament
  *   R/V Oceanus assessing possibilities for Wave Glider repair and deployment

Friday October 22

  *   TBD: Takeoff - Twin Otter Flt 1
  *   0900: Takeoff - B200 Flt 3 (crew brief at 0730)
  *   ~1000: Landsat-8 satellite overpass
  *   1400: Daily Control Center meeting
  *   Saildrone survey continues near cold filament

Saturday and Sunday, October 23-24

  *   Weather outlook is very poor for flights. Next flight opportunity is likely Monday.
