[Exports_pi] May meeting - change in dates

Hi all

I see the dates are firm, but I am not pleased. I know there are lots of
factors at play, but we agreed on the earlier dates and I have fiercely
defended these dates on my schedule and made subsequent travel plans
around the May 21-23 meeting. Participating via conference line or skype
is very difficult and I find highly ineffective. Basically, that means
our team won't be able to participate in this important coordination,
both within the process ship and with the survey ship. Please be aware
and let's try to nail things down before hand.

On another note, there was a question about the surface drifters I have
been so vigorously requesting. Flow in the surface layer (where many
measurements are made) and below (100+m, where floats will be placed) is
different, and often in opposite directions. The surface floats will
give us at least an indication of how different the flows directions and
velocities are. This will be an important measurements to have to link
surface characteristics and processes with depth.
