Subject: CPEX-CV Air Shipment to Sal Island Manifest Request
Hi CPEX-CV Team,
We need to start planning for the air shipment of the CPEX-CV science support equipment to Sal Island so please see attached for an example of the manifest. I’m requesting that each team complete and submit the manifest to me by July 8th. If you need more time, please let me know and I’ll work with your team individually. The air shipment is scheduled to leave around mid-August and should arrive right before the deployment.
The enclosed manifest includes some examples in red. This air shipment cargo is for tools and equipment required for integration and field site support. As a reminder, we will not be shipping dangerous goods in the air shipments (lithium-ion batteries are regulated as dangerous goods). The bulk of the support equipment that instrument teams will need in Sal Island (including hazmat) should be shipped in the sea containers leaving in Late May. Please fill out the manifests as completely as possible, as including only general descriptions could cause customs delays. Your NASA center or home institution will be responsible for assigning Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) to each line item.
ESPO met with the DC-8 team and currently we’re anticipating that there will not be space available in the aircraft for instrument team’s cargo so please plan to utilize the air shipment. The DC-8 team will assess space and floor plans in August so things may slightly change but for now please plan accordingly.
Information on shipping to AFRC and updated shipping dates can be found at: https://espo.nasa.gov/cpex-cv/content/CPEX-CV_Shipping
As a reminder, if you’re going to be shipping to Armstrong, please include Wendy and myself in any email communication as well as provide proper tracking information so someone can be available on the receiving end.
If you have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you,
--
