Hi again team,
There will be an opportunity for CPEX-CV participants to piggyback on the NASA MTS training being provided to the NOAA hurricane program next Tuesday, June 28, from 1-2 pm Eastern. See the Google Meet invitation below.
For context, MTS is a NASA Airborne Science software used for real-time situational awareness during NASA aircraft missions, such as CPEX-CV. It also has other real-time tracking info for the NOAA P-3s and G-IV aircraft, and satellite overpasses. The web-based application allows the user to watch the airplane in flight, and overlay satellite imagery and other meteorological data to support in-flight planning and decision making. It has a number of useful tools you will learn about in the tutorial, including the XCHAT feature, which we will use to communicate between the ground and the crew on the DC-8 during our missions.
If you are not familiar with MTS, or haven’t used it in a few years since it’s upgrade to MTS2, I think you’ll find this tutorial very useful — it’ll be given by the lead MTS developer, Aaron Duley. Plan to attend if your schedule is free.
