Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to attend the 2018 ACE Science Working Group (SWG) Programmatic Workshop to be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Silver Spring, Maryland from April 30th, - May 2nd, 2018. The 2018 ACE SWG Workshop concludes the Aerosol-Cloud Ecosystems (ACE) Pre-formulation Study activities and provides community feedback on the 2017 Decadal Survey as it pertains to aerosol, cloud and precipitation science, and potential linkages to ocean ecosystem research. Attendance will be by invitation only and is planned in coordination with key members of NASA's ACE and science community-at-large with relevant expertise in the subject area. A summary of the goals of the workshop as well as an early draft of the Agenda is attached. Additional logistical information about the workshop venue is forthcoming. There is no registration fee for this programmatic workshop.

About ACE
The Aerosol-Cloud-Ecosystems (ACE) is a tier-2 mission recommended by the first decadal survey for Earth science, Earth Science and Applications from Space: National Imperatives for the Next Decade and Beyond (NRC, 2007). ACE focuses on Aerosol, Cloud systems, ocean Ecosystems, and the interactions among them. In preparation for the workshop participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the accomplishments of the ACE Pre-formulation Study as described in the ACE 2011-2015 Progress Report and Future Outlook (ACE, 2016). One of the objectives of this workshop is to highlight further accomplishments since the publication of this report.
About the 2017 Decadal Survey
Building upon the success of the 2007 Decadal Survey, the second 2017-2027 NRC Decadal Survey in Earth Science and Applications from Space is now available from the Space Study Board of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences website. Participants of the workshop are encouraged to review this document as it will be the basis for much of the discussion in the breakout sessions. You may also want to peruse the white papers the ACE Pre-formulation Study provided as input to the 2017 Decadal Survey panel.
We look forward seeing you at the Workshop and we thank you in advance for contributing to this effort.
