Aircraft:
Other: Airtec BT-67 - 18M008
Date:
Sunday, December 17, 2017 - Monday, December 18, 2017
Mission:
OIB
Mission Location:
TAM West Flux
Mission Summary:

Today we flew the TAM West Flux mission. This mission flies fluxgates across the Skelton, Mulock, Darwin, and Hatherton Glaciers. For the most part, these new fluxgates are interlaced with previous UTIG lines in the area, yielding a 5 km combined grid spacing.

The winds were light for the most part with some higher winds and light to moderate chop in channeled areas. Temperatures ranged from -5 C to -20 C in flight; sky clear and visibility unlimited.

KU radar and UAF lidar performed well, no issues. A few of the gates involved steep descents and climbs which required some maneuvering to maintain mission specs for AGL.

This was our 16th mission of this campaign, and our last. After the flight we removed the instruments and the radar antenna from the aircraft and started packing up. It has been a fantastic group to work with!
