LVIS Fall 2018 Engineering Flights
Mission Location:
Delmarva Peninsula
Mission Summary:

Calibration flight of LVIS to verify laser pointing alignment

Purpose of this flight was to verify long-term thermal stability of the LVIS instrument, performing several calibration maneuvers per hour while mapping a section of the Delmarva Peninsula.

Weather was clear for the first half of the planned lines, but mid-afternoon the cloud cover prevented science data from being collected, so the mission was terminated early after completing 4 (of 8) mapping lines.
