Hi everyone,
Here is the outlook for the remainder of the week and for the conclusion of S-MODE IOP-2!
Updates:
* The G-III departed Moffett Field yesterday morning and the B200 departed today at 0900L. With that, the S-MODE IOP-2 airborne deployment has concluded! The DopplerScatt and MOSES teams will download their instrumentation early next week at NASA Armstrong in Edwards, CA and transport it home. The PRISM team will return to NASA Langley in Hampton, VA and team up with AVIRIS-NG for checkout flights next week in preparation for the BioSCAPE field campaign this Fall.
* The Sally Ride team is in the process of recovering all Lagrangian Floats after five successful IOP-2 deployments, and will continue to survey through tomorrow at 1800L, when the ship will begin its transit to Alameda, CA for de-mobilization.
* The WHOI and SIO Wave Gliders will likely start heading back to Santa Cruz, CA this week, with recoveries nominally scheduled between May 10-12 from the M/V Shana Rae.
* Daily planning meetings have concluded.
On behalf of myself, my ESPO project management team, the ESSP program office, and NASA HQ, I would like offer our sincerest thanks to everyone on the science team, ship ops team, aircraft ops team, and all other support people for their untiring commitment to making this field campaign an unequivocal success. I am very much looking forward to seeing the research results from this unprecedented view of ocean that you all captured during the S-MODE Pilot campaign, during IOP-1, and during IOP-2…
…but first, get some rest. You deserve it!
