[S-MODE] [EXTERNAL] Safety and harassment during fieldwork

Dear all,

As we begin the fieldwork, I want to make sure that everyone saw Erin's
message below about NASA's anti-harassment policy and resources.

I also want to emphasize two things to everyone:
(1)  The safety of the people doing fieldwork is more important than all
of our precious data.  Anyone involved has the authority to stop
everything if they feel the situation is unsafe.  If you have safety
concerns, please call "Stop!" so that they can be addressed.
(2) Intimidation, harassment, or discrimination will not be tolerated.
If you find yourself experiencing intimidation, harassment, or
discrimination, or if you see someone else in that situation, you have
several options.  First, you may address it in the moment if you feel
you can.  Then, please report the incident to me, to any of the Deputy
PIs (Ernesto Rodriguez, Eric D'Asaro, Andrey Shcherbina), to Erin Czech,
or to your direct supervisor.  We will work with you to ensure the
situation is addressed.  Or, if you are not comfortable with any of
those options, you can contact the NASA Ames Ombudsperson Heather Hawley
at heather.g.hawley at nasa.gov.

Thank you,
Tom

Hello all,

I need to take a moment to inform everyone participating in the S-MODE
field campaign of NASA’s Anti-Harassment Policy. It is the
responsibility of all to ensure that S-MODE field operations are
conducted in a safe and respectful environment at all times.

*Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated from anyone participating
in S-MODE field work*. Harassment (or harassing conduct) is defined by
NASA as any unwelcome conduct, verbal or physical, regardless of whether
it is based on an individual’s race, color, gender, national origin,
religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, status as a parent,
gender identity, or genetic information.

If you feel you have been harassed or witnessed harassment/misbehavior
in any manner, please contact NASA Ames Ombudsperson Heather Hawley at
heather.g.hawley at nasa.gov. The NASA Ombuds program is an informal,
independent, confidential, and neutral means of communicating and
facilitating the resolution of safety, organizational performance, and
mission-related issues without fear of retaliation.
