Our next meeting is scheduled for monday June 20th at noon EDT. We may need to meet before then to get the statements of work and budgets ready. Stay tuned.
Notes for the meeting are attached, and also copy-pasted below. Also see our shared file repository here: https://espo.nasa.gov/pace-pax/shared-files/83161/general

Statement of work information gathering
I recently sent a template for information gathering about instrument requirements for each team. This will be used to generate statements of work and ultimately budgets. Thanks to those who responded. I’ll be keeping a version of this document (and Excel file) here:
https://espo.nasa.gov/pace-pax/content/Planning
Stepping through the contents of the document:
-shipping: Erin C – this should contain what’s needed to get instrumentation from the home institution to/from AFRC (or Monterey). Any subsequent shipping will be managed by ESPO. Kirk – in our particular case we don’t intend to relocate from AFRC / Monterey, but this is good to know in case we change plans.
-integration: John H – should we expect staggered integration? Fran B – plan for a 2 week period of integration, perhaps with a bit of staggering. John H notes that much of the material will be required by the PIF for AFRC Kirk – understood… it will make filling out the PIF easier.
-supporting engineering: John H – will the budget cover supporting engineering related costs? Kirk – supporting if it is needed to deploy for PACE-PAX, yes. Please identify these things in the budget. AirMSPI and PICARD teams also note potential need for engineering. Fran B – contacts at AFRC for that are:
tyler.s.latsha at nasa.gov;
mike.s.kapitzke at nasa.gov;
-ground site based calibration: The statement of work document requests information about associated calibration needs. In addition, we need to know if teams will benefit from overflights of the calibration site at Railroad Valley, and if augmentation to the instrumentation at that site are needed. Alternatively, overflights of locations closer to AFRC and JPL could be considered. For more details see: https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdoi.org%2F10.1117%2F1.JRS.15.034501&data=05%7C01%7Cpace-pax%40espo.nasa.gov%7C8132403a7b98461f963708da32053524%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637877295196727883%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=TtEdwY42ep3olUo%2BK0o7pMxaLS1yXgf%2F3q0n2LKsOmk%3D&reserved=0<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdoi.org%2F10.1117%2F1.JRS.15.034501&data=05%7C01%7Cpace-pax%40espo.nasa.gov%7C8132403a7b98461f963708da32053524%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637877295196727883%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=TtEdwY42ep3olUo%2BK0o7pMxaLS1yXgf%2F3q0n2LKsOmk%3D&reserved=0>
Next meeting we’ll discuss this in more detail
A schedule and plan for data delivery deadlines is needed to fully realize a SOW and budget. The PACE-PAX management team will determine these deadlines by the end of next week
In situ aircraft options
Brian C gave a presentation discussing additional measurements that are needed in the CIRPAS twin otter beyond the facility instrument suite. Those slides can be found here:
https://espo.nasa.gov/pace-pax/content/PACE-PAX_Presentations
Anthony B – more instruments than facility instruments alone can be considered
Brian C - Concerns with existing payload given validation focus of PACE-PAX
* Absorption
* Accuracy and extending into blue/UV
* Size distribution
* Needed for ambient conditions and large particle cutoffs need to be quantified
* Real refractive index
* Part of polarimeter retrievals that is only weakly constrained by closure using nephelometers and size distribution
Kirk – we need to trace the measurements to the VTM, and identify a person or people to take the insitu data and turn it into something that can be used for validation
Bastiaan – can PCASP be run with the heaters off to understand role of relative humidity? Is there data on influence of heaters on and off for relative humidity?
(more discussion in email)

Sorry but what's the aircraft again for PACE-PAX? ER-2--see it on the spreadsheet--and Fran's on the line.
[12:21 PM] Brian Cairns (Guest)
ER-2 and an in situ aircraft. Current thought for in situ is CIRPAS Twin Otter since it could be based out of Monterey to keep costs down.

Thanks Brian.
