Announcement regarding potential travel support for early-career scientists from US institutions

We are soliciting applications for travel support from graduate students or early-career scientists (within 5 yrs of conferral of terminal degree) at US institutions to attend the Workshop in Lille on recent advancements in remote sensing & GRASP ACE summer school<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww-loa.univ-lille1.fr%2Fworkshops%2FWS-Lille_GRASP-ACE2023%2F&data=05%7C01%7Cmira%40espo.nasa.gov%7Cbc96f5f193e24c50c19c08db15aeaa39%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C638127612147319392%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=dn5hwvsT44cLOQ9EPQQ7bPObGJ49D3N2AJrdxIMFxSo%3D&reserved=0>, May 22-26, 2023. A proposal is being reviewed by NASA that may make available travel support for a limited number of applicants.

If the proposal is funded, we will provide airfare and a travel stipend of $3,060 (approximately equal to 6 days of lodging and per diem, registration fees, and ground transportation) for up to 14 graduate students or early-career scientists.

Awardees will be selected based on scientific merit and financial need. Scientific merit will be evaluated based on the traveler’s workshop abstract, while financial need will be assessed based on a short (max. 300 words) description of (i) personal financial need, and (ii) how attendance will benefit the traveler’s professional career growth. Early-career applicants will need to include the date of conferral of degree in their application. It is the responsibility of the applicant to inquire with their home institution if they are eligible to receive this support. Note that at this point, no commitment for travel support is made by NASA or any other institution.

To facilitate an early-selection process, we are soliciting applications for travel support now. To be considered for support, please send your abstract and financial need statement to mailto:Lille_workshop2023-l at lists.OU.edu. For full consideration, please send your materials by March 31. Any questions about the process can be directed to Jens Redemann, travel grant PI, at (jredemann at ou.edu).
