Hi Forecasters,

A few things to note as we approach the deployment:

1. The badging office is open Monday–Friday (excluding federal holidays) 7
am – 3 pm. If your first day on base is such that you want to pick up your
badge outside of those hours, please contact Kelly Griffin (
kelly.griffin at nasa.gov) and let her know that you'll need to pick up your
temporary badge at the gate rather than the badging office. This applies to
most forecasters who are getting short-term badges.

2. If you're on the schedule as a P-3 rapporteur, you must be medically
cleared (virtually) and entered into the Johnson Space Center (JSC)
Qualified Non Crew Member (QNC) Flight Medical Clearance database. Kelly
has the list of forecasters in this role and it's currently working through
the system. Expect an email sometime soon about getting medically cleared
to fly, and take care of this ASAP as the process can take a while around
the holidays. You will need to go through this process even if you've been
cleared in past deployments (this is tied to the calendar year).

3. We'll again use NWSChat to interface with WFO personnel. Here is a link
to the PDF with more info:

New forecasters: Read this document and create an account soon. Account
creation isn't complete until you get admin approval.

Returning forecasters: Look over the document as a refresher and note that
we hope to interface with the Peachtree City/Atlanta office for
ER-2-specific weather questions.

4. The Albany, NY soundings will not be available during the deployment
period due to logistical issues. However, SUNY Albany participants may be
able to launch balloons on campus when significant weather is expected.
Stay tuned for updates.

5. Please update your travel plans in the ESPO database as needed.

Best,
Joe
