I may be completely mis-remembering this, but Jon once mentioned that the bar is often paid for up front by the chief-scientist(s) or PIs such that there aren’t a bunch of transactions and the junior scientists don’t have to buy their own drinks. That being said, perhaps this is what should happen if we are not having a big after party anyway. Obviously, this is up for discussion.

I guess we’re going to sea!! The answer is no - we need to move credits into an account from one of our bank accounts. Limits are 2 beers or 1 small bottle of wine. I do not know if there are limits while in port (I hope so during the MOB…). Attached are some notes from Dan Comben (our Jon Short for last year’s planning).

This is the most important question! Will we be able to pay with USD or cards at the ship bar?
Do we have an answer to this question?

Hello Craig,
People can have an evening meal put to one side, there is a microwave, and a freezer with some snacks in the saloon for self service. There is bread. crackers, biscuits, cheese and a selection of spreads, cereals etc also a selection of hot and cold drinks.
Evening meal is 17:30 to 18:30 ( a little early for some) If a team are having food put to one side on a regular basis they will confirm what you would like at lunch. There are usually at least 2 choices of main course.
In short there is no reason for anybody to go hungry whatever there watch pattern.
It's worth noting that meal times change to 17:00 to 18:00 in port.
When people fill in the MFP personal data submission there dietary needs (e.g. vegetarian, gluten free, vegan, etc) should be captured and speaking as a Veggie myself are usually well catered fo.
There is also Crisps, Nuts, Chocolate & Sweets available in the Bond store for sale. Also essential toiletries such as deodorant, toothpaste, shower gel etc etc. Also the usual, T-shirts, hats and other Discovery merchandise.
The Bar also has self-service crisps and nuts, along with wine, in the small airline style bottles and cans of beer. All paid for with a cashless card system that you can charge up on arrival.
There is a printed guide in each cabin , which I am in the process of trying to find an electronic copy of and will send through if I get one. I hope that the info you are looking for?
Best Regards,
Dan
