Hi All,
Keep in mind that any deployment choice that’s not the glider location will require repositioning. This is OK as long as we take into account the constraints that: (i) we move at ~20 km per day, so will need to begin shifting well in advance of the ship’s arrival and (ii) repositioning means breaking off the sampling that’s underway, so may decrease the value of the pre-deployment timeseries.
Given these issues, I vote that we reposition only if we see some real gain from doing so (target a feature, etc). Otherwise we deploy at the location of the glider.
Thanks,
Craig
