[Exports_project_office] FW: Fueling for RIDE SR1812 (and REVELLE) after EXPORTS

Dear PIs,
Today on our call Ken B. asked about whether we would be ‘held hostage’ during refueling on the return and I answered no.
I was incorrect - it seems we will likely have to stay on board, but they will try to get at least some people off-- we won’t know for a while (and will give us some time to try and work out a better plan with them)
Best,
Deb

Hi Debbie,

Generally speaking, we cannot embark/disembark personnel at the fuel pier for safety and security reasons. We may be able to let a few people (up to 4-5) disembark at the fuel pier on the back side of EXPORTS by special arrangement. It's too early to set this up now. We should make a note to re-visit this issue 10-14 days before returning to Seattle in September.

Thank you, Eric.

I received a question today about this:

To what extent will it be possible for the science party to be let off the ship prior to, or during, fueling on the back side of the EXPORTS cruises? We could use that time to get set up for some of the demob like sample shipping, for example.

Best,

Debbie
