Hi All,
First, some great news. Dennis Hansell has just been elected an AGU Fellow. So, congrats to the new fella!!! Honor dinner will be at the Fall AGU in SFO.
Second, new EXPORTS publications by Xiadong and Laure’s groups. See the publication list for more info -
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TubgXWf9qA-kNHRduUZJ0w5Iy6EFnj6jf4Nlr_r-AvI/edit <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TubgXWf9qA-kNHRduUZJ0w5Iy6EFnj6jf4Nlr_r-AvI/edit>. As always please let Laura and Paula know of your accomplishments by sending them preprints and a 1 page PPT summary (and place the 1 page PPT in the folder on the Pub section in /General/Pubs/etc/should_be_obvious_by_now/).
Third, we need to get going on planning for the North Atlantic deployment. We have planned telecoms for the survey ship this coming Monday (8/18) and Friday (8/23) for the process ship both at 10amPT/1pmET on the usual phone line (see below). Goal for the initial telecoms is to state what each group needs from the upcoming cruise (April/May 2020). Bottom line we need to know - who’s going on the cruise, what do you want to do, how many people are you sending, rough ideas of lab space, over the sides, sampling requirements, etc. etc.
There are Platform WG folders set up on the google drive for the Survey <https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GLRbKwBtW6zwOEc6SewJcCgY1kKIsLq8> and Process <https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dGfO_zf4uLBFd4eAschn9TiqawTej_pz> ships. In each of these Platform WG folders are “Initial Request - August 2019” folders where we need from each group a 1 page statement of what they hope to sample from each of the ships. Some groups will be on both ships and we’ll need separate ones for each ship. Goal here is to restart the process at the beginning rather than assume everything carries over from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
Last, the following Monday (8/26) will be all-hands catchup, with news, WG and data management report outs, etc.
Hope this all makes sense and sorry for the short fuse on the survey ship requests.
Best, Dave & Ivona
