Please read this email carefully. There is a lot of vital information to plan for your travel to Sal Island, Cape Verde.

CPEX-CV Sal Island, Cabo Verde Deployment
First day of deployment: September 01 (first possible science day).
Last day of deployment: September 30 (last possible science day).

Visas:  All NASA Civil servants, regardless of the length of stay, require a VISA.
            US Citizens staying LESS than 30 days do not require a visa.
            US Citizens visiting for MORE than 30 days will require a visa.

Entry Fee: All passengers arriving in Sal island MUST pay an airport tax fee of 35 USD.
COVID: All passengers arriving on Sal Island MUST show proof of vaccination or a PCR-RT Test (48 hrs).
            All passengers transiting through Portugal must show a PCR-RT Test (72 hrs).
            COVID requirements will likely be updated later in the summer.
            No other immunizations are required.
Passport Requirements: All passports must be valid six months (+) from arrival to Sal.
NASA Travel:   All NASA Travelers must follow NASA Travel international regulations. Please coordinate with your local travel department.
SSAI Travel:     If you are being funded to use SSAI Travel services, SSAI will be contacting you to open a travel voucher. Do not make any travel arrangements without having an approved travel voucher with SSAI. Please note that SSAI is only contacting those who have indicated on the ESPO database that they plan to travel to Sal. Please update your ESPO database travel plans.
ESPO Database: Please keep your travel dates and personal information up to date.
            Make sure to upload a photograph or scan of your passport. We will use this document to obtain airport authority permits.

Very importantly, do not wait until the last minute. International travel requires more steps and more authorizations. Please start working with your travel department at your earliest convenience.
