Hi Jasmine,
I will add Hiroshi TANIMOTO to the project. He will receive an invitation and the registration guidance will be in the email.

Ok, Hiroshi. I am copying Jasmine, who can probably help us.

Jasmine, Hiroshi plans to visit us during ASIA-AQ. He is already on the mailing list, but he need to register his intentions.

Can you instruct him on how to register on the ESPO site?

Thanks,

Jim

Yugo’s is research ship, mine is cargoship. These are different.
I was just aware of ESPO in the last telecon, and I don’t think I got anything from someone. Many emails are coming in, so maybe I just didn’t find it among these…

Hi Hiroshi,

No problem on the ship measurements. I was surprised since Yugo had said previously that the timing was not good.

If you plan to visit us, you do need to register with ESPO. Have you received anything from them on how to do that?

Jim

Hi Jim.

I had a quick look at the ships’ schedule in coming months. Too bad… the SE Asia ship will be in dock in Feb-Mar… Too bad… So we are trying to move instruments to another ship that will go to SE Asia during the dock, but not sure if we can make it before you go to SE Asia in Feb-Mar. I am happy to share the slides at the telecon, but maybe not now but after I can confirm we can make it to match with ASIA-AQ.

I attended a bit a weekly-hands telecon. If I go visit one of the sites in person, do I have to be on the ESPO list?

Hiroshi

This is really great, Hiroshi. Are you telling me that the ship will be deployed during February and March? We should definitely keep track of the ship location as we move from location to location. Do you have a ship schedule?

I will have another telecon on 18/19 December. Would you want to present the ship plan and capability then?

Also, great news on the plan for GOSAT-GW flights. I know that Barry remains quite supportive of this opportunity. This is especially true now that the GV and GHG sampling has been dropped from ASIA-AQ.

Even if you can’t join ASIA-AQ in person, our planning and science meetings will include virtual access. You can join whenever it is convenient.

Hi Jim,

I believe things are going well.

I was thinking, maybe at some point it is good to share with you (and others as well) NIES’s cargoship observation in SE Asia as complementary data to airborne observations. If interested and beneficial.
See attached.

I am aware that you have “all-hands weekly telecon” and “monthly-telecon”, and I guess the weekly one is more logistical. I was intending to attend the monthly one last week or so, but I was in Paris, so was sleeping. Let me know if it is beneficial. If not, no worries.

BTW, you once suggested me to come visit the flight campaign. Feb-Mar is the busiest season for me and Japan, so not sure if I really can make it but I am interested of course. I forgot if I told you or not, but I have convinced the Ministry of Env. the needs of airborne campaigns for GOSAT-GW and actually got funded to prepare for it, in 2025 and later. We started the initial process with DAS (https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mhi.com%2Fgroup%2Fdas%2Fbusiness%2Fobservation&data=05%7C02%7Casia-aq-espo%40espo.nasa.gov%7C2cf3f0febd6540d08cd908dbfb3b6edc%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C638380004913408969%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=nFIOpQ%2FOB6eJ6udtIRD2kbrad52ySxY0rWRTzZvgmqE%3D&reserved=0<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mhi.com%2Fgroup%2Fdas%2Fbusiness%2Fobservation&data=05%7C02%7Casia-aq-espo%40espo.nasa.gov%7C2cf3f0febd6540d08cd908dbfb3b6edc%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C638380004913408969%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=nFIOpQ%2FOB6eJ6udtIRD2kbrad52ySxY0rWRTzZvgmqE%3D&reserved=0>) to use KingAir 200T equipped with in situ GHG and NOxNOy and imaging DOAS (Yugo), plus normal sensors DAS has, plus other options (TBD). So I also appreciate if some of my team members can visit (they have more free time than I!!) and learn from ASIA-AQ.

Best,
Hiroshi
