Dear ARCSIX team,
I hope you had a good break and a good start of the semester/work year. Now begins a very active phase for ARCSIX. Let me start by clarifying the next few meetings: Because of AMS next week, we decided to NOT hold the 1/30 all-hands meeting and meet on 2/13 instead. After that, we will switch to a biweekly schedule.

That said, we would like to use the NEXT TWO WEEKS for intensive working group meetings. To get those organized, I will ping the working groups directly. I hope that perhaps the flight planning group can meet on 1/30 (in lieu of the all-hands), provided that the 'designated flight planners' are now able to run the latest software version AND are not tied up in the AMS meeting.

Action items: The radiation/RS WG recently had a very productive meeting where we discussed specific flight hours / number of modules etc. that are needed for our '2-pagers' and found great overlap with the cryosphere goals. (We also found that we need a lot of flight hours – some work remains to be done to trim those down). We hope that we can add this kind of specificity to all WG goals. One good way of getting there is to organize combined WG meetings. I propose (1) clouds+aerosols; (2) radiation+cryo (similar to the 'arranged marriage' meetings we did back in August). I will share an example of what we are looking for with the working groups in a follow-up email. Once the information is compiled, we can combine it and come up with a consolidated mission plan – by March/early April at the latest so there's time for feedback and adjustment. Not much time left, but we can do it.

Logistics: There have been many developments recently. Among other things, there may be a slight change in the upload schedule for the P-3, and we may have some updates on travel fairly soon. Stay tuned for a later message, and for the 2/13 all-hands.

Visas: For those who need a visa to Greenland, Miguel Hilario recently went through the process and has some lessons learned to share. We (Dan and I) can support you with a number of documents to facilitate the process. Contact me if you need help. Also: reminder that travel cost (to the consulate) associated with visas specifically acquired for ARCSIX will be reimbursed by the project.

Please do keep 2/13 on your calendars for an all-hands and attend targeted working group meetings before then.

Thank you so much for making ARCSIX happen – I know that many instrument teams are super busy, and so are forecasters, flight planners, and of course aircraft teams and ESPO.

Sebastian
