[All] Daisy saves the day

Lynn shared an event that took place on Tuesday.  Just thought you’d like to know about it and share in my pride in Daisy’s quick thinking.

A Colorado University janitor had a heart attack and lost his pulse on Tuesday afternoon outside the Ozone registration area. Daisy noticed that his coworkers were in shock, and also that there was a language barrier between them and the EMTs. Despite serious trepidation about witnessing someone in severe distress, she translated and directed his coworkers to quicky find information required by EMTs. She found his heart medication in the lunch box she was provided, thought to direct EMTs to his driver’s license for height and weight, and appraised his supervisor of the situation on the phone so EMTs could get his emergency contact.

We heard pretty good news about his progress today – I gather he is still in intensive care, but he’s been awakened briefly and has been responsive. Today was better than yesterday. Clearly he as a long road, but I strongly feel Daisy’s ability to overcome her initial fear of the situation and pitch in was key to his positive prognosis.


BTW, since safety awards were due today, we put Daisy in.  Lynn also put her in for a peer award.  Thanks to all who worked on the awards and thanks to Daisy for the inspiration.
