Subject: AVC request for volunteers- Memorial Day Fun Run/Walk/Roll on 16 May
Good morning,
Can you please send out to your constituents that the AVC is looking for volunteers on the morning of 16 May, to assist with the Memorial Day Fun Run/Walk/Roll to assist with traffic control on the intersections along DeFrance Rd? Commitment would be for about 45 min (just prior to start, until the group participating in the run/walk/roll passes by). They will be provided an orange vest and stop sign to help direct traffic. Please have them contact me if they can volunteer. Goal is for AVC members to be able to participate, since this is something that really hits home for many of us that served or lost loved ones in service.

About this event
The Ames Veterans Committee and the Ames Fitness Center invite you to come honor our military heroes that have made the ultimate sacrifice and our Gold Star Families by taking part in the Memorial Day 2-mile Fun Run/Walk & Roll on Tuesday, May 16.
Be part of this event and show your support by proudly wearing the “Red, White, and Blue” and/or proudly wear attire that shows what branch of the military you served. We will have mini, American flags for everyone to show their patriotism and support. Registration begins at 11:15 a.m., in front of Mega Bites (on Durand Rd.). The starting horn goes off promptly at 11:45 a.m. The course covers a two-mile stretch starting at Mega Bites and heading out to North Perimeter Road and back.
An awards ceremony will take place after the event to recognize the top participants. So, stick around to enjoy the festivities, as we honor their sacrifices, and congratulate your fellow NASA colleagues.
Can’t attend in-person? Participate remotely! Go out on the day of the event and run/walk or roll your favorite 2-mile route. Send your finishing time to arc-fitnesscenter at mail.nasa.gov<mailto:arc-fitnesscenter at mail.nasa.gov>. Top participants will be recognized via email.
The Ames Fitness Center is committed to fostering an inclusive community. We encourage everyone, regardless of fitness level, experience, or capability, to participate in these events. Invite your colleagues and come join the fun!
Please contact Marco or Orion at the Fitness Center (4-5804) or go to https://q.arc.nasa.gov/content/fitness-center for more information about these events and other Fitness Center classes and programs.
