[All] VPP Safety Inspection

All,
We had the VPP Safety inspection of our offices in 232 this morning.  We will get an official list of the findings but here is what I noted that we need to address.


  1.  All:  Heaters are illegal.  The ones in Lynn and Cailtin’s offices didn’t have the feature that makes them turn off if tipped over so they are particularly bad.  I removed both and put them in the server/huddle room for now.  The one in my office also must go.  They took the action to address the need for space heaters and will see if we can get a waiver and a list of approved models.  They are also going to try to get the upper windows fixed since they don’t open/close and thus impact the temp regulation in our building.
  2.  All:  Cable management.  They would like to see us all Velcro our cables to they don’t look like trip hazards.  Stevie has his power boxes velcroed to the table legs of his desk.  They loved this and recorded it as a “best practice.”  They asked if we could all do that.
  3.  Vidal and Jhony have old powerstips in their offices.  They must be removed.  If we can’t use the power units provided by the building, we need to, at least, have modern strips.
  4.  All:  Huddle rooms.  They said we have too many chairs (6) for the room’s occupancy.  When I challenged that, they agreed to have someone come in a determine the room occupancy.
  5.  Stevie and Dan:  You have moved the office numbers.  Stevie is in room 27 and Dan 35 but the labels both say 35.  I fixed it.
  6.  Dan and Marilyn:  The bamboo pot on the landing is an egress hazard.  We need to move it.  We can move it up to the top landing but it can’t be on the stairs.
  7.  Other findings in the common areas (clean kitchen and microwave regularly, get rid of ink and trash in printer area, update BEAPs etc.)

All in all, a pretty good audit.

Ps:  When Adrian stops traveling and can come into the office, he will move to Quincy’s old Cubicle and Daisy will move into the one he vacated.  I went ahead and moved the labels.
