SUBJECT: IT Notice: Please update Google Chrome – July 5, 2022
WHAT IS THE IMPACT?
An update for Google Chrome was issued on July 4, 2022 to address some key vulnerabilities in the browser’s security. In fact, these updates were so critical that the NASA Security Operations Center has issued a mandatory update order with a network block date of Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
The required Google Chrome version number is 103.0.5060.114. Fortunately, current NASA-compliant Google Chrome installations automatically receive updates when they are issued by Google. In addition, we have enabled a patch notification script for earlier Chrome builds which have not yet updated to the newer version of the browser.
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?
- Please quit and relaunch Google Chrome on your macOS or Windows computer ASAP.
- If you receive a notification informing you of a pending Chrome update, please take 30 seconds to load it ASAP.
We strongly recommend checking for patches on a weekly basis, especially while we are remotely teleworking. You can do this on the Mac using /Applications/Self Service. On Windows systems, click Start -> Settings -> Update & Security.
