[All] ESPO vaccination survey

Hello all,

In light of the extended International travel coming up in the following years, ESPO is exploring the option of offering Hep-A, Hep-B, and Typhoid vaccines at the Ames health clinic. The vaccines will be available at no cost to you, both for the civil service and contractors. "When you do poll the group – I'd recommend you think beyond Hep-B and consider others, as well.

Notably – Hepatitis A is at least as much (if not more) of concern for travelers than Hep B.  And, the Hep vaccines are manufactured in three formulations: A alone, B alone, or combo Hep-A/B vaccine that covers both.

The good news about the Hep vaccines is that they usually confer life-long immunity.

Typhoid vaccine is also commonly recommended for travelers. (Again – usually a greater concern for the typical traveler than Hep B.)  The typhoid injectable vaccine needs a booster every two years; oral vaccine every five years.

Typhoid and Hepatitis A are food-borne illnesses. Hepatitis B is a blood-borne illness.
