Subject: Webex Update

Hello NASA Webex Community I just wanted to provide you an update on some known issues and Tips on Modern View

For those of you who are no longer Webex Hosts this information will be of help to you also

All Hosts and most Attendees: Update your Webex Desktop App (see below) Minimum recommended version is 40.6x

Modern View Tip:

A common question is “How do I get to Reports? I cannot find it in Modern View”

Reports are now located in the menu under the your name in the upper right of the window (see below)

Problems:

Older versions of the Webex Desktop app will not automatically prompt to upgrade to the current nasaenterprise version of 40.6.10x. Desktop app versions pre 39.5.25x appear to have problems working with the current 40.6x version and it is highly recommended that everyone take the time to upgrade the Webex Desktop app on your machine. Some of you that do not have Admin rights on your machine will require assistance from the ESD Service Desk to install software with elevated privileges. (Update Directions Below)

Single Sign On issues with Webex:

We are seeing some reports of issues with Single Sign On when joining a Webex meeting for NASA users

Remedy: Update the Webex Desktop App from https://nasaenterprise.webex.com (Directions Below)

How do I update the Webex Desktop App?

Go to https://nasaenterprise.webex.com click on the three horizontal lines at the top of the left menu then select Download

Select and install the Webex Meetings desktop app

If you also use the Webex Outlook plug-in it is highly recommended that that plug-in be updated. In the 39.10x release Cisco separated the Outlook plug-in from the desktop app, the outlook plug-in is now called Webex Productivity Tools. Productivity Tools is available for both PC & Macintosh

There are other issues we are currently working with Cisco TAC, updates will be provided as information is available.

Sound issues?

We are getting some reports of sound issues on Windows 10 since the upgrade to 40.9, it appears that the updated Webex Desktop app sometimes selects the wrong sound device especially if there is a connected monitor with sound capability.

On Windows we recommend going to the “Control Panel”, “Sound” (Admin rights may be required) and look for extra sound devices that are not required. Recommend disabling any unneeded sound devices. Some testing may be required.

Issue with Content Sharing on Mac OS Catalina

When the Desktop app is updated on Mac OS Catalina we are seeing that sometimes the Screen Recording permission for Webex Meetings and Events is not getting set.

On Mac Catalina go to “Security & Privacy”, “Privacy” select Screen Recording and check the box for Webex to have permission
