Hello all,
If you plan to use the ESPO GoPro Cameras, please read the information below and watch the videos in the link, these will help you:
1. Setup the camera correctly without damaging it
2. Have the correct/compatible settings for post-production
3. Capture great photos/videos from your mission
GoPro Videos
Resolution: 1080
FPS: 25
FOV:
- WIDE (for wide-angle shots)
- MEDIUM (for a closer and not so distorted shot)
- NARROW NEVER USE THIS ONE (The only thing the camera does is to crop the image digitally.)
VIDEO TIPS:
- Time-lapses. Please take a tripod with you and place it in interesting places with things happening and shoot for long periods of time (it can be ped-up later). Some examples could be: People passing by with the airplane on the background. Integration of instruments (outside/inside the plane). GoPro placed at the back of the plane cabin so we can see the whole interior with people doing "their stuff"...
A really good time-lapse would be one inside the airplane empty and then see how they install all the seats and instrument equipment!
- Stable shots. The thing with the GoPros is that they give a terrible footage if you move around (way too much vibration). That's where the tripod comes into play).
If you are going to move around learn how to use the Karma Grip.
- Impossible angles. As you know, one of the values of this kind of cameras is to set them in difficult access places. Place it where you think you could get an exclusive and difficult shot. A good example could be the airplane cockpit. I assume you could find better ideas once you're in the field...
- Don't try to get the whole processes yourself with the GoPros. If you try to capture everything with the limited capability of the GoPro's you could end with a lot of useless footage.
Stable (tripod) footage and, most of all, beautiful Time-lapses.
Also film things... that you can film! And I mean, make sure that you don't get beautiful footage of a restricted area that we cannot use later on!
Photography
JPEG at highest quality/resolution possible with your camera.
