Hi all,
Big Picture overview: WE DID IT! Successful flights with four aircraft and O3 sonde launch.
- Wednesday July 26th: AEROMMA/STAQS/CUPiDS aircraft flew coordinated in and around New York City July 26.
- Thursday July 27th: No flight planned for AEROMMA/STAQS. Planned CUPiDS and NEC-AQ-GHG flights in NYC.
- Friday July 28th: Potential flight for all aircraft in NYC.
- Saturday-Sunday July 29th-30th: one hard down day (date TBD) and one potential flight day for NYC or Toronto or aircraft access day for AEROMMA/STAQS.
- Monday July 31: TEMPO planned first light.
- Wed Aug 02: TEMPO potential first measurements.
- Thu Aug 03: media/VIP day in Dayton.
Aircraft:
AEROMMA:
- First flight: Wed July 26 to NYC (~6h duration with 11AM take-off)
- Next potential flight Fri July 28 targeting NYC
STAQS:
- First flight for both aircraft: Wed July 26 to NYC
- Next potential flight Fri July 28 targeting NYC
CUPiDS:
- Two flights: Wed July 26 on NYC DC-8 tracks at 7500ft and Long Island Sound
- Planned next flights: Thu-Fri July 27-28 with UMD Cessna
NEC-AQ-GHG:
- The Cessna will transit to Islip, NY on Wednesday afternoon to sample the outflow of DC-Baltimore, Philly, and NYC.
- The Cessna will be based at KISP and will fly with the Twin Otter (possibly the DC-8 and other NASA aircraft) in NYC/LIS Thursday and Friday
- Sample the potential ozone event and characterize emissions of GHG & air pollutants from NYC.
- The Cessna will fly back to Maryland on Saturday.
U. of Alabama SeaRey:
- SeaRey has been flying out of Kenosha sampling a biomass burning event
Ground:
NYC-METS Manhattan Site:
- Mostly urban and local sources.
NYC-METS Yale Coastal Site:
- Onshore flow observed by TOPAZ
NYC Long-term Queens ASCENT Site:
- Measurements of aerosol speciation are available and have been running since 2022, along with NY DEC criteria pollutant data and NIST GHG measurements.
The CIX:
- Follow the #toronto_ground channel on AGORA for updates.
Chicago:
- U. Wisconsin GC-PTR-ToF is operational in Chicago downtown (timothy.bertram at wisc.edu)
