Comments:
The objective for Flight 16-6006 was to fly over the Sierra Nevada snow pack with AVIRIS-C. The target area was north of Lake Tahoe, an area called Sagehen. For the first two passes over the target area the sky was clear. The last two lines of the mission were not flown because of an increase in cirrus clouds. Stu commented that it was hard for him to make the call to continue because looking straight down he could clearly see the target but he also noted that cirrus clouds were “rolling in”. He couldn’t determine how much cirrus clouds so after consulting with the AVIRIS scientist, it was decided to RTB and not fly the last two lines to save flight hours for FR162023. There were very few low clouds. Stu Broce was the pilot.
