Log Number:14B011PI:Edward Kim
Funding Source:Jared Entin - NASA - SMD - ESD Hydrology Program
Purpose of Flight:Science
Comments:ICF for SLAP after system re-installation. Crew was Slover, Wusk, Faulkner, Wu. Mission profile was a ground track from Langley to FKN to CVI to EDE and back. Flew VFR at 9,500' for the outbound portion and at 1600' on the return portion. The return, landing, taxi, and shutdown were all uneventful. Overall aircraft operation was nominal. No EMI/EMC issues were noted. TACAN was confirmed as non-functional with the SLAP installation (as noted from the previous SLAP missions). The SLAP instrument was operated in flight, including limited radar transmission, but the science crew appeared to be dealing with several off-nominal issues and were less than satisfied with the systems performance. After the flight they were working on their plan for troubleshooting and implementing fixes. Next flight is tentatively scheduled for Monday, contingent upon SLAP readiness, weather, and RSD staffing priorities with competing flight projects.
