MODIS TERRA view of Rim fire 27 Aug
The TERRA image from the morning of 27 August shows a new pulse of smoke starting from the Rim Fire, which is not captured by the AOT retrieval. Smoke emitted on 8/26 (when we were at the source) has moved up to western MT where we sampled it on 8/27 when it was one day old. Subject to confirmation by back trajectories, we then sampled smoke emitted 8/25 (2 days old) and 8/24 (3 days old) as indicated.
