Lodging information is provided as a courtesy to attendees. Most of the hotels on the attached list are preferred vendors for Columbia University and rates are typically at or below the GSA per diem rate of $179 per night for February. We encourage you to book your room early to avoid price fluctuations that may occur due to demand.

Visitors' Information
The NASA GISS Visitors' Information webpage contains detailed information on how to reach the campus by railroad, airports, subway, taxi, and other mass transit. We recommend that you explore this detailed information for your visit to the area.
GISS Arrival
GISS is considered a federal facility, and all guests must be placed on a visitor’s list to gain access to the second-floor meeting spaces. You must be registered in advance for in-person attendance of the science team meeting. ESPO will be coordinating on your behalf.
Upon arrival, you will be required to show a government issued id and your bags will be subject to a search. The following forms of ids are acceptable:
US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident:
- NASA PIV card
- State issued driver’s license
- Passport
- Government issued id card
Foreign National (non-designated countries):
- NASA PIV Card
- Passport
- Visa
All registered attendees will have access to meeting space on the second floor via the stairway or elevator. NASA PIV card holders with a NAMS request (ESPO will be coordinating on your behalf) will have access to floors 3, 5, 6, and 7 via the elevator key card reader (additional restrooms and some meeting spaces).
Travel Precautions
The New York State Department of Public Health suggests that you educate yourself on common illnesses that spread during the fall and winter, and the precautions that you can take to prevent or minimize their impact.
