Purpose of Flight:Science
Comments:The flight objective was a Metop-A & B and an Aqua & NPP coincidence over the Gulf of California and Peninsula. There was also overflight of ground sites in Yuma and the Salton Sea. Weather was clear over the Gulf with low broken clouds over the west side of the Baja Peninsula. All instruments functioned well. A British Met Office BAE 146 aircraft did a similar science mission in the same area concurrent with the ER-2. An anomaly with the ER-2 idle was detected at engine start. Post flight tests confirmed that there was a problem. Repairs were made and the aircraft is flyable.
