Purpose of Flight:Check
Comments:This flight operation was to check out the operation of the Surprise Valley magnetometer payload. The 421.5 MHz aircraft control link was not working properly, so the 900 MHz control link was used. Some interaction with the payload 900 MHz link resulted in reduced control link performance, but not enough to affect the mission. The Iridium control link was very solid, perhaps due in part to the improved Iridium antenna on the aircraft. Flight patterns at 500' were performed over the abandoned metal buildings and other features. All aircraft systems performed nominally.
