Purpose of Flight:Science
Comments:SLAP research flight #5 originated out of Easton MD Municipal airport and proceeded over the Delaware Bay bouy SJSN4 at 11,500 ft MSL for a fixed antenna nadir looking orbit at 35 degrees AOB. Eight east-west flightlines averaging 45 NM in length were completed in smooth air but strong wind conditions at 11,500 feet. During the transit back to KLFI, a second instrumented bouy overflight (bouy #44009)in W-386 was conducted followed by a 40 deg AOB orbit with the antenna beam fixed pointing to nadir. Uneventful transit back to KLFI for a full stop. This flight completed this phase of the Scanning L-Band Active Passive data collection with all flight science objectives met on schedule. Instrument will be downloaded tomorrow for return to GSFC.
