Purpose of Flight:Science
Comments:SLAP Research flight #4 conducted to cover the same ground tracks and altitudes as the previous flight day to document differences in ground returns. Strong gusty winds at 2000 ft AGL created more than desired attitude variations but data was collected over the entire planned tracks. Bouy calibrations over the Delaware Bay bouy (SJSN4) were performed with the antenna aimed and fixed in the nadir direction before and after the flight lines at 35 degrees AOB and 40 degrees AOB respectively. Three 50 NM legs, followed by four 35 NM legs and finally a 50 NM leg were completed sequentially from north to south over the instrumented ground truth collection area. Aircraft proceeded to Easton MD Municipal airport to refuel and rebrief.
