| Comments: | Flew a CALIPSO satellite underflight mission, picking up the track approximately 65 NM west of Sisimiut airport and tracking it SSE towards Nuuk. Flew with clear skies above the aircraft at 8000 ft MSL but nearly solid overcast below until the extreme southern track line when the undercast broke up to scattered clouds. Turning north to Manitsoq NDB, it was clear below the aircraft but a very thin high cirrus above. Reaching the coastline we cimbed to 11000 ft for the transit back to BGSF for an instrument approach. The DAWN instrument initially had wind profiles thru the clouds but not to the sea surface on the CALIPSO track, but the final 50-70 NM allowed steadily improving profiles down to the surface for the final portion of the track and back to the coastline. Next flight(s) scheduled for tomorrow. | ||||
