Comments:We flew 3 G-LiHT sorties today to the Raleigh-Durham / Duke Forrest target area accomplishing a morning, noon and afternoon collect over Duke Forrest. Overall, good data was taken on all runs, all of which had promising results as cloud coverage only affected two runs that was repeated during the noon collect. Larry said sortie was completely effective. Aircraft is now at Newport News with the weekend runway closure. The morning weather reports and forecasts indicated that Duke Forrest and Parker tracks had excellent prospects for a cloud free day, starting with some clouds and improving over the day. A decision to go to Duke made due to its higher priority. The morning collect time was from 1011 – 1108 AM. All lines were flown with no repeats required. We gassed up at RDU and turned in 1+26. The noon collect was characterized by spotty few clouds at 7000 feet, occasionally impacting the data. The noon collect time was from 1258 – 1412 PM. All lines were flown with repeats on lines 3 & 5 required for cloud impacts. We gassed up at RDU and turned in 1+05. The afternoon collect was clear with wispy remains of the noon clouds. The afternoon collect time was from 1535 – 1632 PM. All lines were flown with a repeat of PM2 due to sun alignment for the principle plane since we were there 1 –hr later than the line had planned.
