Purpose of Flight:Science
Comments:First research flight. Flight plan was a track out to western NC to complete multiple legs SW-NE over the Boone NC mountains, followed by a transit to the RDU area and some turns over a boat taking measurements on Lake Jordon. Crew was Kagey, Wusk, Faulkner, Wu. Conditions for the flight were good although there were some scattered thin clouds out over the mountain region and back toward RDU. Light turbulence over the mountains. The number of legs over the mountains were cut in about half once we got through the first leg and made an assessment of the fuel burn rate. Transit to RDu was uneventful and multiple turns made over the boats location. We landed at RDu for fuel/lunch.

Purpose of Flight:Science
Comments:Second flight of the day. Crew was Kagey, Wusk, Faulkner, Wu. Take off from RDU VFR. Climb out to the north to allow instrument temperature to stabilize. Then complete multiple turns over Lake Jordon and the boat. Head back toward Langley. Planned route home (which was to fly over multiple ground measurement sites)was now covered with light precip, so the researchers made the decision to continue taking data but on a direct route home. Flew leg at 3,500' for research. Nominal landing and shutdown at Langley. Researchers requesting next flight for Monday May 5.
