<pre wrap="" class="">Hi Susanne et al.,
Thanx for reminding me and telling them we can use their help (the OSSE PI emails are on this email list!!). So OSSE folks, please contribute to this discussion if you can. Issues we are trying to resolve are science reasons to 1) reduce cruise duration (≤ 27 days) while ensuring we make stable estimates of BGC fluxes, 2) changing location from station P (likely south or west) and 3) altering cruise departure and its relation to the timing of regional BGC processes in summer and fall periods.
We will discuss this on the telecom on Tuesday.
Dave

thanks for all the info. Has there been any feedback from the OSSEs group on the effect of timing on the duration and types of ECCs likely to be encountered at P and south? I know that is a big question, so info on a subset will also be helpful.

<pre wrap="" class="">Hi All,
Thanx for the input on the cruise parameter google document so far. As I am learning, if we are to change our ship request, we must do it shortly. So I would like to see if we can come to a consensus as a team on issues of duration, location & departure date in that order using our inputs from the google doc. Let’s have that discussion on our next telecom on Tuesday Aug 15 - 9amPT/NoonET. Numbers follow...
USA Toll Free # 1 844 467 4685
USA Local/Toll # + 720 259 7012

Contact Vidal or Ivona if you need a non-US dial in #
We as a group have to advise the NASA what will work best for the project overall.

Hi All,
As you can see there are (too) many moving parts in this operation. One thing we agreed upon in yesterday's telecom was a discussion on the cruise duration, siting, departure date, etc. so we can maximize return on NASA’s investment. Ivona and I have started a pro-con rationale document to spur this discussion on the following google doc.
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g_stpkL39brMoF9iK4UjbSQSsieKiwktG1_tzAWZDI0/edit">https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g_stpkL39brMoF9iK4UjbSQSsieKiwktG1_tzAWZDI0/edit</a>
It is not complete and needs your input and to initiate other options. This is important. We need to balance science returns with where we want to make investments. Sea time is VERY expensive (>$80K/day for both ships & techs) and for every $ spent there is $1 not spent on science. Talk with you all next Tuesday.
Best, Dave
